After the San Francisco 49ers lost their dress-rehearsal game against the Indianapolis Colts, the state of the roster is starting to get clearer. Here we look at those on the bubble, and if they can make it past the final cuts.

With the San Francisco 49ers trading SAM linebacker Eli Harold to the Detroit Lions, the picture got a little clearer for some of the players on the 49ers roster heading into the 2018 regular season.

One less linebacker (at least for now) makes it that little bit easier for the other linebackers to make the roster.

But the question is, who else is on the bubble?

We’re going to go position by position and take a look. Players will be sorted by “strong chance,” “weak chance” and “long shot.”

Roster locks won’t be mentioned, and you won’t see camp bodies get too much attention here, but we’ll take a closer look at those who at least have a realistic shot.

Writers note: I’ve come back to this article after the third preseason game against the Colts, thus I will be making adjustments and providing a small footnote for each group taking into account the game.
