The San Francisco 49ers took on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3 of the preseason, and Niner Noise takes a look at the good, bad, and ugly.

It’s going to be someone new detailing the 49ers good, bad and ugly this week. But don’t expect that much difference.

I’m just a little more pessimistic than Peter is.

The 49ers had an overall lackluster dress rehearsal, as Week 3 out of 4 of the preseason is called. The Niners defense forced a three-and-out to start off the game, but the offense was just as poor with the ball and gave it back.

Soon after, the 49ers marched down the field with the help of Alfred Morris, who had 84 rushing yards for the game, but they were stopped on 4th-and-1 at the 6-yard line. After yet another stop by the Niner D, the 49ers had a 10-play 39-yard drive that culminated with a Robbie Gould field goal.

However, poor tackling and a blown coverage allowed the Colts to score the game’s first touchdown with a pass from QB Andrew Luck to TE Eric Ebron. The 49ers scored a field goal afterwards, and that was the score entering the second half.

The 49ers’s starting offense came out for the third quarter, but after failing to score, that was it for the starters. The 49ers took the lead with yet another field goal, but the Colts came back with a touchdown, and that was all she wrote. The 49ers got a late touchdown in the fourth, but the game was largely over by then. The score was 23-17, Colts.

With the game summary done, let’s get on to the good from this crucial game. For more info, go to our game thread to see the live updates and analysis from our writers and from fans like you.
