Although most preseason game stats and results should be disregarded, Week 3 has always been a little different. Niner Noise looks at three big things from the San Francisco 49ers’ preseason Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

For the past two weeks, these articles have been about overreactions to 49ers preseason games. We’ve talked about free-agent busts and rookie gems, all while proving why these are nothing more than just talking points that fuel hot takes.

However, analyzing Week 3 of the preseason will be a little different. In a game where the starters play basically half the game, this is the one preseason game where what you see is a good indicator of what you get.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that the starters would be playing around a half of football, which gives us plenty of tape and time to analyze these 49ers.

Now of course, let’s not go too crazy here. It is preseason, after all, and you can bet the Niners will be trying some new things. But for this game, no overreactions. These are going to be legit takeaways.
