Stock up: Joshua Garnett
I’m a firm believer that if a player is firmly maligned, it’s equally important to be ready to praise them just as firmly if they deserve it.
Well, third-year offensive guard Joshua Garnett made his preseason debut, and he did fine.
While Mike Person did get the start, Garnett relieved him for the second drive and played into the second half. He could be described best as “solid.” He even had an impressive pancake block in the second quarter. Considering the question marks at guard, it’s important to find something at the position.
Garnett will be given every chance to start, and the best thing he can do to stake his claim would be to help improve the abysmal work in the run game we’ve seen for two preseason games.
