Stock up: Dante Pettis

Let’s get the bad out of the way first. Yes, Dante Pettis was partially responsible for the Jimmy Garoppolo interception.

I would personally disagree with head coach Kyle Shanahan (get your torches and pitchforks ready) in blaming Pettis more than Garoppolo for the pick, but it is true that Pettis at least had a shot to bring it in.

But despite all that, Pettis didn’t have a bad game by any means. In fact I daresay he was one of the most impressive, as the 49ers home page explains:

"The rookie took a quick slant for a 20-yard catch-and-run. Pettis also burned his man deep down the right sideline for what would have been an easy 63-yard touchdown, but he was overthrown by Beathard. Finally, Pettis showed a little of his “wiggle” on an 11-yard punt return that looked like it had no business going for more than just a few yards."

More importantly, despite it being a pick, the dynamic rookie did get a target from Garoppolo this game. He’s shown the ability to get open and make defenders miss, and should be able to develop the chemistry further.
