Game info and how to watch

The San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans kick off Week 2 of the preseason today, Aug. 18, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET, at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX.

If you’re in the Bay Area, the game will be broadcast live on your local CBS affiliate, KPIX 5, or online via the free live stream at 49ers.com. The Niners’ second matchup of the 2018 NFL Preseason will not be televised nationally, but a replay of the game will be broadcast on NFL Network later tonight, beginning at 1 a.m. ET.

If you’re in a local market, or if you want to watch the game later tonight on NFL Network, you can stream the game on your phone, computer or media streaming device with fuboTV’s subscription service, which includes a seven-day trial membership.

For those who live outside of the Bay Area or the Houston market and want to watch the game live, NFL Game Pass provides a live steam of the game via their subscription service. NFL Game Pass also offers a seven-day trial membership.

The 49ers last faced Houston in a preseason game in Week 1 of 2016, as San Francisco officially kicked off the short-lived Chip Kelly era. The Texans defeated the 49ers 24-13, with the Niners’ lone touchdown coming on a 43-yard pass from quarterback Blaine Gabbert to tight end Vance McDonald.

Las Vegas sportsbooks predict today’s matchup to be a tighter affair. The Texans are currently favored over the 49ers by 2.5 points.

Hopefully the San Francisco 49ers will be able to remain healthy — while deciding some important positional competitions — in Week 2 of the 2018 NFL Preseason.
