The San Francisco 49ers go on the road for the first time this year to face the Houston Texans in Week 2 of the 2018 preseason. Niner Noise looks at five players to watch in this matchup.

The first week of preseason is always relatively boring. The starters only get a series or two of playing time, and the backups aren’t even the ones getting most of the reps — those belong to the third stringers.

But now that grueling first preseason game is out of the way, and with the San Francisco 49ers on the road to face the Houston Texans in their second preseason game, we will get to see a bit more of the starters.

And be reminded that we are one step closer to the return of “real” football.

For now, we will have to take what we can get and watch this exhibition game, which isn’t to say that there are some interesting players and matchups to watch in this one. Let’s dive in to the five players to watch in the 49ers’ second preseason game of 2018.
