Tyrann Mathieu Picks Off Jimmy Garoppolo
Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu managed to get the best of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during drills, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco:
Tyrann Mathieu just picked off Jimmy Garoppolo. I think I’ve seen him intercept a #49ers quarterback or two in the past.

The play would have gone for a pick six, had it been during full 11-on-11 drills.
Mathieu, who came over from the Niners’ NFC West division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, during the offseason, has his share of picks against the 49ers over the years. His three interceptions on San Francisco quarterbacks are the most against any team since he joined the league back in 2013.
Garoppolo bounced back, however, leading the first-team offense to a touchdown against Houston’s starting defensive unit.

13-yard TD pass from Jimmy Garoppolo to Pierre Garçon.
Richie James and Marquise Goodwin each with big catches on the drive.
That’s good to see, especially as San Francisco’s first-team offense stalled out in its opening drive against the Dallas Cowboys during both teams’ exhibition opener last week.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Trent Taylor appeared to be a massive standout for the 49ers offense — another bonus, especially after coming back only recently after an offseason back procedure.
