While there have been plenty of San Francisco 49ers atop the depth chart flashing ability in training camp, a number of bubble-watch players have impressed as well. Here are five over the first two weeks.

The San Francisco 49ers have finished up eight-plus days of training camp for 2018 and are gearing up for their first preseason contest against the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 8.

Many Niners players have stood out throughout camp. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner has been a regular force, and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has been almost impossible to cover. Tight end George Kittle has emerged as one of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo‘s favorite targets, while rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis has arguably been the team’s No. 1 standout.

All these players have one thing in common, though. They’re all going to be on the team’s 53-man roster this season. Barring injury, or course.

While training camp is equally important to these players, it’s much more a proving ground to the guys on the fringes of the roster.

Fortunately, San Francisco has seen some standouts here too.

Players on the roster bubble need to do more than just have a good camp. They need to flat out beat guys likely slated ahead of them on the depth chart. While many presumed roster additions can afford an off day or two, those on the periphery need to make the absolute most of every single play, each individual rep.

In a way, these players can’t physically make the statement of “the team would benefit with me on the roster.” Rather they have to have the mindset of “you possibly can’t keep me off the roster this season.”

Here are five of those players who have done just that throughout 49ers training camp so far.
