With the first week of San Francisco 49ers 2018 training camp in the books, Niner Noise goes through the roster and looks at which players’ stocks are rising or falling.
Week 1 of San Francisco 49ers training camp has come to a conclusion, with the fourth day of on-field practices wrapping up last Sunday.
On two of those days, the Niners donned pads, marking the first time head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad had done so in 2018. More often than not, padded practices provide a better indication of what to expect when the regular season debuts in September.
Niner Noise’s Aaron Tan was present for one of those four practice sessions, and his interview notes point out some key storylines for the rest of camp.
Case in point, rookie wide receiver Richie James has made a name for himself after being selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Seventh rounders and undrafted free agents always have an uphill struggle to crack a 53-man roster. But it appears as if James is doing everything in his power to make the cut.
James would be considered a riser in San Francisco’s opening-week stock watch of training camp. But he’s just one of a number of Niners wide receivers standing out this summer so far.
With the first week in the books, here’s a stock-watch inventory report on some of the more notable performances we’ve seen during 49ers training camp after the opening week.
