No. 2: Offensive Guard Joshua Garnett
I’ve talked a lot about Joshua Garnett this offseason. And I’m going to continue talking about him until there is some clear resolution at the right guard position.
To be fair, Garnett has never had his fair share of opportunities so far in his NFL career. He has only played in fifteen NFL games, all of which were in his rookie year. A knee injury suffered in training camp last year held him out from his sophomore season.
Now, all of a sudden, it’s make or break for Garnett. I believe that this organization is ready to move on from the previous Trent Baalke pick. He did not play well in his rookie year and has not shown anything that warrants him a spot on this roster.
However, I think that Garnett is going to go 110 percent in training camp. He dropped 25 pounds over the offseason in order to better accustom himself to Kyle Shanahan’s offense and seems very motivated to stay on this team.
Garnett is definitely going to need a strong training camp, but I think that he is going to put on a show for the coaches over the next few weeks.
