Niner Noise breaks down the San Francisco 49ers’ tight end position heading into the 2018 season, where George Kittle has the chance to entrench himself as the long term starter.

The San Francisco 49ers seem quite set on offense, and a lot of this has to do with the bumper crop of offensive players taken late. Between Trent Taylor, the undrafted Matt Breida and George Kittle (you’ll read a lot about him shortly), the future of the Niners offense looks very exciting.

Tight end is probably the most underrated position in football — a position where, ideally, you need to block like a tackle and also catch like a wide receiver. A great tight end can add incredible possibilities for an offense.

Kittle has a chance to be that tight end after an impressive rookie season and has a partner in Garrett Celek who should have the team looking pretty set at the position.

But can anyone else insert themselves in the equation? Let’s take a look.
