20. EDGE Cassius Marsh

While free-agent acquisition EDGE Cassius Marsh was the 49ers’ secondary pass-rushing specialist in 2017, he is slated to take over the top role in 2018. While Marsh didn’t feature prominently on the stat sheet last season, he was quite effective pressuring the quarterback — which is generally a better indicator of a pass rusher’s impact on opposing offenses.

Marsh hopes to convert his pressures into sacks this season, in an area the 49ers will need to improve on in 2018.

As the 49ers plan to give Marsh the most significant role of his short career, there is always the potential he loses out to another edge rusher on the team — which is the main reason Marsh doesn’t find himself ranked higher on this list.
