Fantasy football: A beginner’s guide to draft strategy

Round 10-13:

The draft is always the same around this spot, continue to fill up your bench players.

There is one thing to look for those and that is your boom-or-bust player. There are some players in there that can be amazing one year and awful the next (see Terrelle Pryor), or players that impress in camp that nobody would have on their radar.

Definitely take one in the 13th round.

Some people like to take two defenses, but defenses depend a lot more on matchups than anything. Don’t take one here.

Round 14-15:

But take one here, take a defense you like the look of that’s still on the board.

Oh yeah and a kicker, kickers are people too, folks. Don’t take one before the 15th, though.

This is just a guide, feel free to tinker it to your own tastes. But in general, look to fill the starting lineup as soon as you can before filling up the bench.

Take a shot on that boom or bust player in the 13th as well, it’s worth it.
