No. 5: Lamar Miller, Running Back, Houston Texans (ADP: 4.05)

Writers Note: For those who don’t know how to read an ADP (Average Draft Position), the number before the decimal denotes the round and the number after denotes the selection in that draft. Therefore Lamar Miller’s average draft position for 2018 is the fifth pick in the fourth round.

I was utterly astonished to discover running back Lamar Miller was being drafted in the middle of the fourth round. In the last three games of the Houston Texans’ 2017 season, Miller had 11, 11 and eight touches of the ball.

You could say Miller was being saved by the Texans at the end of a lost season, and that his output (more on that in a moment) will improve with quarterback Deshaun Watson back under center, but the truth is Miller didn’t have a very good season at all.

Running at just a 3.7 yards-per-carry average and three touchdowns rushing for the year, his three receiving touchdowns helped his fantasy football output a touch, but such a poor season with D’Onta Foreman ready to return by training camp after being injured during an impressive rookie year doesn’t seem worthy of a fourth-round pick to me.
