No. 4: Christian McCaffrey, Running Back, Carolina Panthers (ADP: 2.10)

Writers note: This is for non-PPR leagues only, I have no issue with this as a PPR selection.

I mean look, I like running back Christian McCaffrey as a football player, but I wouldn’t be using any of my first two picks on a player who will be definitely splitting touches during the season with fellow runner C.J. Anderson (who is a better rusher right now than McCaffrey).

While this is not a 50-50 sort of split (McCaffrey is still a RB1 or RB2 pick, depending on how the running game goes, Anderson would be a FLEX option only), if McCaffrey still does most of his damage on passing instead of running plays, Anderson could very well get more and more touches as the season goes on.

A second-round pick on an uncertain situation is too early for my blood. If McCaffrey was a round later, I would do it, but not in the first two selections.

Let someone else take the risk.
