Jerick McKinnon

One player the 49ers hoped would get off a great start was prized free-agent running back acquisition Jerick McKinnon.

McKinnon certainly has lived up to the hype so far in the early stages of the 49ers offseason. On the first play of full team workouts, Mckinnon scampered up the left sideline for a huge gain.

During practice, it’s been made evident that the plan is to use McKinnon in every way imaginable, as he has been catching a lot of passes out of the backfield from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, as noted by 49ers senior reporter Joe Fann.

Not only has McKinnon been everything the 49ers have hoped for, he has definitely caught the eye of the most important person on the field, head coach Kyle Shanahan:

"He’s been exactly what we were hoping for so far. You can see the athlete on tape, but I didn’t know the person. I had heard a lot about him, but he’s been just as good as advertised as a guy, if not better."

Looks like the “Jet” has been flying high so far in OTAs. If he can keep this type of play up as the season goes on, McKinnon can have a big year.
