Winner: Offensive Tackle Mike McGlinchey

There are always going to be some doubts surrounding rookies, and it’s no different with the 49ers’ first pick from the 2018 NFL Draft, offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey.

Yet McGlinchey worked with the first-team offensive line from the get go, all but erasing any doubts whether or not he’ll be a Week 1 starter when the regular season rolls around.

And according to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, McGlinchey held up well:

In more detail, Cam Inman described one of McGlinchey’s first efforts from the day, writing, “McGlinchey, last month’s top draft pick, threw a low block on Arik Armstead the first play of team drills to help protect Garoppolo.”

We’ll see if McGlinchey is able to maintain the early success, especially when pads are donned later this offseason.

But for now, things look good.
