Losers: Offensive Guards Joshua Garnett and Laken Tomlinson

San Francisco was getting some solid interior pressure from defensive linemen Solomon Thomas and DeForest Buckner on Tuesday, per the Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows.

While Barrows didn’t come out, specifically, and say first-team offensive guards Joshua Garnett and Laken Tomlinson had bad days, both likely would have been responsible for a few practice sacks on Jimmy Garoppolo.

Per 49ers.com, Garnett was beaten four times on the day.

Buckner would have frequently lined up in 3-Technique opposite Tomlinson who, per Barrows, was starting on the left side of the offensive line.

And Garnett, per Cam Inman, looks slimmed down but likely not at the point where the Niners coaching staff would like him to be.

With fellow guard Jonathan Cooper (knee) not participating, the first-team unit will feature a lot of Garnett and Tomlinson this spring. All three are vying for the two starting spots this season, and early results appear to indicate the Niners may have some trouble handling interior pass-rushers.
