Winner: Offensive Tackle Mike McGlinchey

The 49ers’ first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft is a winner for a number of reasons.

For starters, Pro Football Focus ranked Mike McGlinchey the No. 15 overall prospect on their pre-NFL Draft big board.

And he goes No. 9 overall.

Part of the winning classification includes guaranteed money. Per Niner Noise’s Chris Wilson, the current collective bargaining agreement states top-10 players receive “top-20 in annual guaranteed money at the position.”

That’s great news for McGlinchey, contractually, guarding him against an early cut should he not pan out.

Better yet, McGlinchey is all but poised to take over Trent Brown’s job at right tackle now. Sure, there will be a competition. But the Niners will be looking to get McGlinchey in the starting lineup on day one.

Nothing wrong with that from a top-10 pick.
