No. 4: Trade up with the Cleveland Browns in Round 2

The 49ers are set to pick during the lower half of Round 2 at 59th overall. While there would still be some solid players sitting around that time, San Francisco might consider trading up if they like a certain prospect projected to be drafted earlier.

Similar to Round 1, the Cleveland Browns will have two early selections in the second round. The Browns have the 33rd and 35th overall picks and the final pick of Round 2.

To address some of its needs, San Francisco might target players such as Colorado cornerback Isaiah Oliver, LSU wide receiver D.J. Chark and Ohio State offensive lineman Billy Price.

The 49ers trading up to the Browns’ early pick makes sense if they pursue one of those players projected as an early second-round selection.

Here is the potential draft scenario between San Francisco and Cleveland:

Despite trading down, the Browns would still keep three second-round picks, including their own 33rd overall selection. And with this trade, Cleveland would add one of the 49ers’ early third-round picks.

Especially for a rebuilding team such as the Browns, you can never have too many draft picks.
