The San Francisco 49ers are now gearing up for all possibilities come the 2018 NFL Draft. As April 26 draws closer, Niner Noise takes a look at four potential trade scenarios for the Niners once the clock starts ticking.

General manager John Lynch and the entire 49ers front office still have plenty of work to do this offseason. Despite addressing a few positional needs in free agency, San Francisco remains to have glaring holes to fill.

The 49ers most notably signed cornerback Richard Sherman, center Weston Richburg and running back Jerick McKinnon to strengthen their roster. But, aside from a few other signings, the team was not immensely active during the free agency period.

It seems Lynch rather elected to use this year’s draft to improve the team especially in pass rushing and pass protection.

San Francisco will look to address those needs during the 2018 NFL Draft with its nine total picks:

  1. Rd. 1: Pick 9 (9th overall)
  2. Rd. 2: Pick 27 (59th overall) – from New Orleans
  3. Rd. 3: Pick 6 (70th overall) – from Chicago
  4. Rd. 3: Pick 10 (74th overall)
  5. Rd. 4: Pick 28 (128th overall) – from Pittsburgh
  6. Rd. 5: Pick 6 (143rd overall) – from NY Jets
  7. Rd. 6: Pick 10 (184th overall)
  8. Rd. 7: Pick 5 (223rd overall) – from Miami
  9. Rd. 7: Pick 22 (240th overall) – from Kansas City

With their plethora of picks, the 49ers will look to successfully follow up their superb rookie class last year.

The Niners’ 2017 draftees collectively garnered the most snaps in the league, according to Pro Football Focus. Additionally, San Francisco saw several rookies stand out throughout the season, from the likes of Ahkello Witherspoon and Adrian Colbert.

Since his hiring as 49ers GM, Lynch has been fairly active when it comes to trades. In this year’s NFL draft, Lynch might highly consider trading picks as well, depending on various circumstances.

Thus, let’s take a look at four trade scenarios San Francisco might encounter come draft day.
