No. 1: Wide receiver Jaleel Scott

Age: 23 years old

Height: 6 feet 5 inches

Weight: 218 pounds

Although wide receiver isn’t a pressing need for San Francisco, there is one quality the position lacks — a big body. And oh is Jaleel Scott big.

Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, Scott is one of the draft’s tallest wide receivers. That kind of frame is what the 49ers are looking for, evident in the team’s scheduled visit on April 11 with Florida State wide receiver Auden Tate (who is 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 228 pounds).

So we know San Francisco is searching for a tall wide receiver.

Scott is a real threat in the red zone, which is an area where the 49ers struggled last year with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. As you can see in the clip provided, Scott would help to solve that issue.

In the first game of the 2017 season against Arizona State, Scott produced one of the best plays of his career at New Mexico State.

That catch is just incredible. With his massive size, cornerbacks will have a tough time dealing with Scott in the red zone.

During his final season at New Mexico State, Scott recorded 76 receptions for 1,078 yards and nine touchdowns. It was his only real productive season in the two years he played there, but it was enough to warrant attention as an NFL prospect.

There are questions to his game; PFF identifies Scott’s ability after the catch as a weakness. That’s not exactly what he would be brought in for though.

San Francisco needs someone who can go up and win the ball in a contested matchup, especially in the red zone, and Scott can do that.

Scott is PFF‘s No. 24 ranked wide receiver and NFLDraftScout.com projects him as a fifth or sixth-round pick.
