With the 2018 NFL Draft coming up at the end of the month, teams are busy prepping their big board. Here is a list of potential late-round prospects the San Francisco 49ers may look at.

As it stands, the San Francisco 49ers own nine picks heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. Four of those selections are in the fifth round or later.

Last season, when San Francisco had 10 picks, five of them came in or after the fifth round. Out of those five picks, three became regular contributors by season’s end — with tight end George Kittle, wide receiver Trent Taylor and safety Adrian Colbert.

While the later rounds are usually overlooked as the flashier prospects are taken in the beginning portion of the draft, there is certainly still importance to the backend. Just look at last year’s class.

Heading into next season, the depth chart of the 49ers is much clearer than it was in 2017. It is the second year of the Kyle Shanahan-John Lynch era, and we have a better understanding of the traits the two look for in their players.

Keeping schematic fit and team need in mind, these are players the team might look to target in Rounds 5-7.
