Round 1, Pick 12: EDGE Harold Landry (Trade Down)

In my NFL Scouting Combine recap article, I said that I fully expect the 49ers to trade down in the first round to select edge defender Harold Landry from Boston College.

A month later, I haven’t even had the slightest thought of changing that prediction.

Landry is the best pass-rusher in the draft not named Bradley Chubb, and given that Chubb will most likely be gone by the time the 49ers pick at No. 9, Landry provides the 49ers the solution to their dire pass-rush problem.

This trade will be with the Buffalo Bills, a team in desperate need for a quarterback and could get a top-five quarterback at No. 9 in the draft. John Lynch traded with a team in need of a quarterback last year in the 2017 NFL Draft, and look how that turned out.

I predict that the Bills will be Lynch’s next victim.
