NFL power rankings: Final 32-team breakdown ahead of the 2018 draft
By Peter Panacy
The Arizona Cardinals may not want to consider 2018 a rebuild year, but that’s pretty much what it is.
Head coach Bruce Arians? Gone. Quarterback Carson Palmer? Gone. And at one point, the Cardinals had exactly zero QBs on their roster. That was, of course, before they signed former Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford to a two-year deal. But he comes with plenty of injury history, and Arizona’s offensive line is nowhere near to what it needs to be to protect him.
Safety Tyrann Mathieu is no longer in the picture, and that hurts what was once a top-tier secondary.
At least running back David Johnson returns from a season-long wrist injury last year. And he’ll be joined by future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who isn’t calling it quits just yet.
The Cardinals managed to eek out an 8-8 record last year, which was a massive overreach. They won’t come close to that this season, and we’ll likely see Arizona bring up the rear in the NFC West.
