QB No. 4: ???

If you subscribe to the notion NFL teams should draft/take a quarterback each and every offseason, this slide is for you.

OK, but who?

It would be a shock for the 49ers to use anything but a seventh-round pick on a quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft. If anything, John Lynch and Co. would tab an undrafted free agent to compete with Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard during offseason programs.

Virginia’s Kurt Benkert and Memphis’ Riley Ferguson are names to watch here, particularly the latter.

Walter Football’s profile on Ferguson reads on how his field vision improves when he rolls out of the pocket. Considering how Kyle Shanahan likes to use bootlegs and rollouts in his offense, it’s not hard to draw the line to the fit.

Whoever the prospect is, about the only realistic shot for him would be to push out someone like Mullens off the practice squad.

But, heck, there are always a handful of players who could turn heads late in the draft or as a UDFA.

Regardless, it’s still good to know San Francisco has it’s quarterbacking situation all but set at the top end heading into 2018.
