The San Francisco 49ers currently hold the ninth overall pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. We take a look at the quality of players recently drafted at No. 9 and compare their draft spot to their production in the NFL.

With the ninth pick in the draft. and no immediate quarterback need, many expect the San Francisco 49ers to trade back in the first round in order to acquire additional draft capital. Others have advanced the notion that, if EDGE Bradley Chubb falls due to a bevy of early quarterback selections, the 49ers would be wise to trade up to select the premier pass-rusher.

In this year’s draft, like many others, the No. 9 pick appears to be in “no man’s land” with respect to value. There will certainly be high-level talent available at the ninth selection, but will the talent match up with both positional value and the 49ers’ current needs?

If the 49ers decide not to trade away their first pick, they will likely need to choose between a talented, safer player at a less valuable position, or a player with question marks at a more important position.

Let’s take a look at the players selected with the ninth overall pick in recent NFL Drafts.
