2018 NFL Draft top-10 mock: Bradley Chubb or Quenton Nelson fall to 49ers?
By Peter Panacy
The 2018 NFL Draft was shaken up by the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts making a move. How does this push talent down to the San Francisco 49ers. Let’s look in this top-10 scenario.
There’s going to be a big run on quarterbacks in the top 10 selections of the 2018 NFL Draft.
On Saturday, multiple reports surfaced the Indianapolis Colts were sending off the No. 3 overall pick to the New York Jets in exchange for New York’s No. 6 overall pick, as well as pick Nos. 37, 49 and a 2019 second-round selection.
Now, the top-10 draft order looks like this (h/t ESPN’s Field Yates):
This only serves to benefit the San Francisco 49ers, who are one of the handful of top-10 picking teams not in need of a quarterback this offseason.
For starters, it drives up the market on quarterbacking prospects. Teams outside the top 10, such as the Buffalo Bills at No. 12 or the Arizona Cardinals at No. 15, may be inclined to get aggressive and trade up.
In turn, this will push non-quarterback prospects even further down the NFL Draft board.
And that helps San Francisco immensely.
