NFL Scouting Combine: Ranking the top 10 performers from 2018
No. 9: LB Shaquem Griffin (UCF)
Shaquem Griffin surely made headlines for his phenomenal performance. Griffin initially did not receive an invite to the combine until the Senior Bowl, but that clearly did not stop him from proving doubters wrong.
When he was young, Griffin lost his left hand due to a prenatal condition. Despite this disadvantage, the UCF linebacker still pursued his dream of becoming an NFL player one day.
After his brilliant performance at combine, Griffin is now one step closer in becoming a pro.
Using a prosthetic hand, Griffin recorded 20 repetitions of the 225-pound bench press. Though, the most shocking number Griffin posted was his 4.38 40-yard-dash time.
Griffin’s 40-yard time is the fastest among all linebackers since 2003.
Griffin’s story is truly a remarkable one. His outstanding showing at the combine likely skyrocketed his draft stock and led teams to pay closer attention to him.
With his tremendous speed and athleticism, Griffin could be a steal in the later rounds for any team willing to give him an opportunity.
