No. 2: Wide Receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (Notre Dame)

In my post-Super Bowl mock draft, I called Equanimeous St. Brown a 6-foot-5 receiver who runs like he’s Marquise Goodwin, one of the fastest players in the NFL.

People didn’t believe that he could run that fast due to his size, but he proved his doubters wrong at the NFL Scouting Combine, running a 4.48 second 40-yard dash. That is insanely fast for a 6-foot-5 receiver, if you didn’t know.

Equanimeous St. Brown probably has the greatest name of all time, but he actually stems from a family that produces equally awesome names left and right. His brothers, Amon-Ra and Osiris, both play for Division 1 schools (USC and Stanford, respectively). Every one of them is incredibly talented. There’s a reason why sports fans compare the St. Brown family to the Ball family in the NBA.

Any athlete with siblings who are also athletes know the competitive nature between them. I’d be willing to bet that the competition between the St. Brown brothers pushes all of them each day to become better football players.

The 49ers need a big receiver to help them in the red zone. St. Brown’s frame and competitive drive is perfect for snagging those one-on-one jump balls in the end zone.

Simply put, St. Brown would immensely help Jimmy Garoppolo and Company.

And by meeting with him at the NFL Scouting Combine, the 49ers are one step closer to bringing the help that the red-zone offense needs.
