Well, you finish by winning the Super Bowl, and that’s an automatic ticket to the No. 1 spot in our NFL power rankings.

Seriously, though. The Eagles deserve to be here for a number of reasons. After nearly everyone wrote them off after quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending ACL injury late in the regular season, head coach Doug Pederson figured out a way to engineer his team through the playoffs en route to the surprising upset in Super Bowl LII over the defending champs.

All while riding the underdog role.

More impressively, quarterback Nick Foles — seen as a liability during his few regular-season starts — did nothing but amaze during the postseason, riding that momentum to a Super Bowl MVP award.

Well deserved, for sure.

Heading into an offseason of bliss, the Eagles have a lot to be excited about. Wentz will be back, although Foles is certainly the big hero for now. There are plenty of young and promising pieces on offense and an up-and-coming secondary. That front-seven defense? It’s good.

Really good.

It will be interesting to watch what Philly does to make even more improvements this offseason. For now, though, they can sit back and let all the enjoyment coming with a Super Bowl crown come to the team and its fans.
