A winless 2017 campaign only adds to the Browns’ historically bad ineptitude, although things could be changing for Cleveland here in the not-so-distant future.

Hiring former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley was a big move and should bring some immediate improvement. This will take pressure off head coach Hue Jackson who, somewhat surprisingly, survived the post-2017 wave of coach firings.

Regardless, Jackson and Co. will be armed with 12 picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, not including compensatory selections that haven’t been announced yet. Two of those (Nos. 1 and 4) come within the first five.

Not a bad position to be in.

Additionally, the Browns will have over $110 million in cap space, per Over the Cap. They’ll have to overpay talent to come play in Cleveland, considering how poor the roster is right now. But for a team in rebuild mode, this is a pretty good place to start.
