Super Bowl LII: Breaking down the top 5 matchups to watch
By Jay Marsdale
No. 5: QB Nick Foles (PHI) vs. HC Bill Belichick (NE)
A backup quarterback with no Super Bowl experience going up against one of the best coaches ever with five Super Bowl victories. This final matchup seems a little bit one-sided, but it is a key one nonetheless.
Nick Foles just has to do enough. He does not have to go throw for throw with Tom Brady. He does not have to throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Foles just has to find a way to win this game for his team.
It doesn’t have to be flashy. It just has to be effective.

Bill Belichick is going to do everything in is power to confuse and rattle Foles. Belichick is the master at disguising coverages and blitzes. Foles needs to be ready for anything and everything he can think of and then some for this game.
All Belichick cares about is winning. The way that the Patriots win this game and walk out of Minnesota with the Lombardi Trophy is if Foles turns the ball over. Brady is hard enough to stop without giving him positive momentum and short fields to work with.
Foles has to make quick and smart decisions with the football. He has to understand that the Eagles defense is the strength of the team. They can lean on them to keep the game close. That means no risky throws and securing the ball in the pocket when the Patriot defenders get pressure.

A punt is not the end of the world for the Eagles in this game, but an interception might be. That is exactly what Belichick will be looking for. If Belichick and the Patriots can win the turnover battle, they will most definitely be Super Bowl champions again this Sunday.
