With free agency just right around the corner, Niner Noise looks at five free agents that the San Francisco 49ers would be wise to target.

In my opinion, free agency is more important than the NFL Draft for a team, short term. Grabbing free agents, players who have already proved that they belong in the league, are much more likely to make an immediate impact on the field than players just coming out of college, fresh with raw talent who still need to be developed.

Call me an unreasonable optimist, but I think that the San Francisco 49ers are a playoff-caliber team, and are a few great players away from possibly making a championship run.

And that is why this offseason’s free agency will be of the utmost importance.

Here are five free agents that the 49ers should target in the offseason.
