Prediction No. 3: Wide Receiver Pierre Garçon Has 1,000 Yards Receiving

What Actually Happened: Pierre Garçon finished with exactly 500 before landing on IR

Well, we were on pace.

Veteran wide receiver Pierre Garçon’s 2017 campaign was cut short by a season-ending neck injury suffered in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to that, though, he was on pace to have exactly 1,000 yards receiving last season.

Not kidding.

What We Said

"The 49ers don’t have anywhere close the talent the Falcons had last year [in relation to the scheme operated by then-coordinator Kyle Shanahan in 2016]. But they do have a very productive wide receiver in Pierre Garcon. Even if he is 30 years old. Garcon led the NFL in receptions back in 2013 and also posted 1,346 receiving yards for the Washington Redskins. His offensive coordinator? None other than Shanahan."

What Happened

Garçon ended up with 500 receiving yards, exactly, on 40 catches, which still ranked third and fifth on offense, respectively.

Had he not suffered an injury and kept up the pace, we would have been spot on.

Keyword: would.
