The NFL regular season is a wrap, which means the playoffs are upon us. Niner Noise previews the Wild Card Round and offers predictions of the matchups.

Only 12 teams remain as the pursuit for the Vincent Lombardi trophy heats up, while the rest of the country is in a deep freeze. The opening round of the playoffs figure to be a weekend of enthralling affairs, with the likes of running backs Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt and Todd Gurley II taking the field.

And wide receivers Julio Jones, Michael Thomas and Tyreek Hill. Oh, and quarterbacks Drew Brees and Cam Newton. Some of the league’s top players will all be in action.

In the AFC, the No.1 seed New England Patriots await the winners of the Tennessee Titans-Kansas City Chiefs matchup, and the No. 2 seed Pittsburgh Steelers will play either the Buffalo Bills or Jacksonville Jaguars.

Over in the NFC, the No. 1 seed Philadelphia Eagles face the Atlanta Falcons or Los Angeles Rams, and the No. 2 seed Minnesota Vikings play the winners of the Carolina Panthers-New Orleans Saints game.

With some of the most skilled young athletes playing in the Wild Card round, the NFL playoffs will be getting off to a fine start.

Here is Niner Noise’s preview of the games complete with statistics for each team and predictions of each game.
