The Los Angeles Rams offense is finally clicking under head coach Sean McVay, and there aren’t too many upgrades there to worry about.
And while the defense is looking good enough under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, there are some pressing needs in the secondary. Especially at cornerback.
L.A. placed the franchise tag on veteran corner Trumaine Johnson. If he doesn’t return, the Rams should spend their first selection on a solid corner. And Ohio State’s Denzel Ward could easily be that guy.
At 5-foot-10 and 191 pounds, Ward is probably best suited for nickel duties. He’s not the biggest ballhawk of the bunch. But his 15 passes defended in 2017 suggest he’s more than capable getting in the mix with receivers on the inside.
