The San Francisco 49ers look to end the season on a five-game winning streak as they take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17. Here is the preview with the latest news, X-factors, injuries and much more.

Remarkably, the San Francisco 49ers have positioned themselves to finish the season 6-10. While the record itself is nothing remarkable in its own right, it is the fact that the team started out at 1-10.

That, of course, is only possible because of a trade made back in October, when San Francisco acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots for a 2018 second-round pick.

After sitting behind rookie C.J. Beathard for three games, Garoppolo took over the reigns as the starter in Week 13 and has been the catalyst for a late-season revitalization.

The 49ers are 4-0 in the games Garoppolo has started, with two of those wins coming against quality opponents in the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars in consecutive weeks. In rather rapid fashion, the direction of the franchise has shifted.

To end the season, San Francisco faces the Los Angeles Rams, winners of the NFC West. Most intrigue has been siphoned from this game due to Sean McVay’s decision to rest the starters as playoffs are just around the corner.
