Significant injuries

As mentioned previously, the 49ers are going to be missing offensive Trent Brown due to a shoulder injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Friday that the team was placing Brown on injured reserve, ending the third-year player’s season.

The move makes sense, considering San Francisco’s record and the value of Brown. Shanahan noted this in his decision-making (h/t Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee):

"Trent’s a very important part of this place in our future, Shanahan said. When you’re talking about a five or six month injury, that’s something we want to get going as fast as possible, and I fully support his decision."

As for the rest of the 49ers, this is how the injury report is looking for the game against the Titans, via ESPN’s Nick Wagoner:

  • Questionable — CB Ahkello Witherspoon (knee), CB Greg Mabin (calf).
