What’s this? Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles having an excellent game against a good Seahawks defense?

Well, you read that right.

Bortles was more than just effective during this contest, going 18-of-27 for 268 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in a passer rating of 123.7 — his third highest this season. Granted, he received help from rookie running back Leonard Fournette, who took off a lot of pressure by averaging 4.2 yards per carry and with a touchdown.

Things got a bit chippy towards the end of the game, of course, but this victory might be one of those signature wins the Jags need to boost confidence heading into the postseason.

And with the Titans losing in Week 14, Jacksonville now has sole possession of first place in the AFC South — a prime position to ride out the rest of the year.

Biggest Question

The Jags have done well this year, getting by on a formula involving a stout defense, a strong running game and Bortles not being asked to do too much.

But when the playoffs roll around, there could easily be a game where he’ll need to shoulder a bigger burden. Based off what we’ve seen from his career, it’s not a scenario most Jaguars fans would relish.
