Niner Noise breaks down positional game grades from the San Francisco 49ers’ 15-14 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 13. How did each position do during this contest?

The San Francisco 49ers now stand at 2-10 after knocking off the Chicago Bears 15-14 on the road in Week 13.

This contest marked the first start for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in a Niners uniform, and he didn’t disappoint. And neither did wide receivers Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor.

Game grades are a bit more fun after a victory, and San Francisco certainly had its share of top performers from the contest. Defensively, the Niners shut down running back Jordan Howard and the Bears rushing attack.

As a result, Chicago was completely outgained by San Francisco, 388 yards to 147, while head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad managed 23 first downs to the Bears’ eight.

But the close score indicates things didn’t entirely go the 49ers’ way.

Yes, there were some issues on both sides of the ball. And San Francisco, despite some notable performances, can consider itself a bit lucky to walk away from Chicago with the victory.

With this as the backdrop, let’s look at how each position did during this contest, assigning positional grades along the way.
