  • The days of Tevin Coleman being the lead back for the Falcons offense have ended. It was fun while it lasted, but it’s time to temper expectations again for fantasy football owners.

Coleman was a very serviceable running back while fellow runner Devonta Freeman was sideline with a head injury. His return is great for the Falcons offense, but bad for Coleman’s production level. He is going to drop from around 20 touches a game back down to 10 with Freeman’s return.

On top of sharing the running back work, Coleman is also going up against the tough Minnesota Vikings defense. The Vikings are only allowing an average of 75 rushing yards per game this year. That comes in at second in the NFL and is not a good recipe for either of the Falcons running backs to have success this weekend.

Last week, Julio Jones reminded the world just how good a receiver he is with his 250-yard performance. The Falcons looked like the high-flying passing attack that everyone expected coming into the season.

That looks to continue this week.

Fantasy football players should look more towards the Falcons pass catchers this week against Minnesota than their runners. I see Coleman as an emergency start, at best, this week in all fantasy formats.

He just isn’t going to get enough touches to be confident in him going forward.

Other options: Rex Burkhead (NE) @ Buffalo and Kenyan Drake (MIA) vs. Denver
