In the first start of Jimmy Garoppolo’s career as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, it is a Week 13 matchup with the Chicago Bears. Here is the preview with the latest news, X-factors, injuries and much more.

Whether it is for the best or for the worst, the Jimmy Garoppolo era is here. With five games remaining, including three consecutive against AFC South foes, the San Francisco 49ers front office and head coach Kyle Shanahan will get an extended look at their presumable 2018 starting quarterback.

The start for Garoppolo comes after he played his first snaps under center for San Francisco in Week 12 when quarterback C.J. Beathard went down with a knee injury late in the 4th quarter. There was only 1:03 left on the clock, but Garoppolo managed to throw a 10-yard touchdown as time expired.

On November 26, Shanahan named Garoppolo the starting quarterback for Week 13 against the Chicago Bears. For his first game as the starter, it will be a homecoming for Garoppolo.

An Illinois native, Garoppolo was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois and played football both at the high and collegiate level in the state. At Eastern Illinois University, Garoppolo established a name for himself.

On the road versus the Bears, Garoppolo will try to guide the 49ers to their second win of the season.
