Fantasy football: Start-em, sit-em players for Week 12
By Jay Marsdale
Sit-em: Demaryius Thomas (DEN) @ Oakland
The Denver Broncos need a big game from wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. I don’t see that happening. Thomas has only one game this year of over 100 yards.
Thomas and the rest of the Broncos offense is stuck in neutral. They have not been able to get anything started with either Trevor Siemian or Brock Osweiler under center. This is going to be a game of struggling offenses and neither is going to solve their issues this week.
Fantasy football players selected Thomas to be their top wide receiver, and he has not been that in 2017. He only has three touchdowns on the season and only seen double-digit targets twice.
In order for unproven quarterbacks like Osweiler and Siemian to succeed they need to be game managers. They have to be surrounded by defense and a running game and right now Denver only has a defense and no running game. Running back C.J. Anderson has not been productive since early on this season, and subsequently, the Broncos offense has struggled since that time.
There are plenty of wide receivers to choose from this week, and Thomas isn’t one of the better options. Thomas is going to have a difficult time regaining any fantasy football relevance this season.
Other options: Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) vs. Jacksonville and Eric Decker (TEN) @ Indianapolis
