San Francisco 49ers: Redrafting Trent Baalke’s 2016 NFL Draft Class
By Peter Panacy
Original Player Selected: OT Fahn Cooper
The 49ers already added a linebacker, De’Vondre Campbell, in this redraft. But the selection of former Akron linebacker Jatavis Brown at this point would have been a nice depth addition for San Francisco’s defense.
Brown, at 5-foot-11, is a bit undersized for any kind of outside duties, but he would been a worthy backup behind then-49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
And certainly an upgrade over eventual fill-in linebacker Michael Wilhoite and Nick Bellore, who ended up getting a lot of starting reps later in the season.
When you consider Brown is earning a 71.8 overall Pro Football Focus grade in a semi-starting role for the Los Angeles Chargers this year, it stings a bit more.
