Tight End

Best Player: George Kittle

This isn’t the perfect best-player scenario, but rookie tight end George Kittle is still the best performer out of all the options at this position.

Kittle currently ranks third in total receiving yards for San Francisco’s offense this season (277) and the same in receptions (27). Considering the Niners moved former No. 1 tight end Vance McDonald to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this offseason, it’s safe to assume promoting Kittle was the right move.

Just check out the comparison through six weeks:

Kittle is far from a finished product, though. His five dropped passes are most on the 49ers offense and rank second most in the NFL, according to Fox Sports.

If there’s a notable area of improvement, it’s here.

Still, Kittle remains the best contributor at this position for San Francisco.
