Best Player: Running Back Raheem Mostert

Special teams don’t get a lot of love. But in this year of otherwise-painful 49ers football, special teams has actually been very good.

One of the main reasons has been the play of depth running back Raheem Mostert who, after four weeks, was the top-ranked special teams contributor in the NFL this season, per Pro Football Focus:

Punts, kicks, field goals and returns are all important here. But gunners and coverage are just as crucial. Perhaps even more.

And guess what? The Niners still rank No. 1 in the NFL in lowest punt-return average (2.5).

Mostert sure has a lot to do with that.
