“Frantic” might be the best word to describe the Saints’ crazy overtime win over the Redskins last Sunday.

After all, all it took was two late fourth-quarter touchdowns, a defensive stop and a two-point conversion to force overtime. And then an eventual game-winning field goal to give New Orleans its eighth win of the season.

And all that is pretty amazing when you consider the Saints were only 4-of-12 on third down during the contest.

Quarterback Drew Brees continued to do Brees-like things this game, throwing for nearly 400 yards and having a pair of touchdowns against one interception. But the bigger offensive star was running back Mark Ingram, who ripped off 134 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Ideally, the Saints would have preferred not to be in a position where late-game heroics are required. But winning the tough games is what good teams do, and the Saints are showing just how good they’ve become this season.
