This game had the makings for an upset, and it sure looked as if that was going to happen both early and late.

Detroit fell behind 10-0 to the offensively challenged Bears, giving up some huge yardage to Chicago running back Jordan Howard. A defensive score, followed by two passing touchdowns from quarterback Matthew Stafford put the game back in the hands of the Lions before halftime, only to see the Bears tie things up at 24 apiece with just over five minutes remaining in regulation.

Still, the Lions managed to pull out a win in this NFC North showdown and at a place where Chicago’s defense has been notably good this season.

Stafford passed for nearly 300 yards and posted a passer rating of 120.2. When your team’s ground game isn’t working — it isn’t for Detroit — you’ll need that kind of production from your quarterback.
